Shizuka ( 静香 ) - Tokyo Underground '95 (1995)

| Psychedelic Rock | Noise Rock |

Shizuka (静香) is a Psychedelic Rock band (Shizuka is also the singer's name) from the Japanese Underground. Along with other bands from the underground Tokyo scene, Shizuka brings lots of Noise-like improvisation. Shizuka's guitarrist, Maki, was also a short-time early guitarrist for Fushitsusha, Keiji Haino's psychedelic/noise rock band. I love the way Shizuka sings, sadly howls full of feelings, really touchy. Their albums are REALLY REALLY hard to find around, so I hope you enjoy...

This album is one of their best. I especially like "Lunatic Pearl", with it's really catchy chorus, and the "A Song for the World Left Behind" part of the third track, which is, perhaps, my favourite song from Shizuka.

You should give this a try, even if you're not into japanese underground or psych-noise rock. (for other Shizuka's albums, check out here.)
